Southwest High School’s “Shark Tank”a Success
GREEN BAY, WI – January 16, 2014 – Six entrepreneurship and marketing students competed in Southwest High School DECA’s first annual “Shark Tank” business plan competition on Thursday, November 19, 2013. Over $2,000 in entrepreneurial funding was provided by the following local business owners: Elliot Christenson (Green Bay Net), Jeff Macco (Macco’s Flooring), Joyce White-Nelson (JoyceVentures), Kiar Olson (Kiar Media), and Nicole Zich (Sassy Girl Boutique). During the competition, students presented a two-minute sales pitch about their proposed product/service, promotional plan, and pricing strategies.
The winner of Southwest DECA’s Shark Tank was junior Entrepreneurship student and DECA member, Jacob Gussert, who pitched his local tutoring service.
All students who competed were provided with either a donation or mentoring services by the sharks. Other student participants included: Mitch McMahon, Savannah Kuehn, Romaeo Cavitt, Collin Jepsen, and Darrin Bell.
In addition to funding provided by the participating owners/”sharks”, the following were contributing partners for this event: Nicolet Bank, Chris Schmitz, Great Scott Images, Dennis and Darlene Marcelle, Absolute Converting Solutions, and Packerland Builders.
